To set the registration fee we are going to need to know meal prices, cost of tote bags, pens, cost of entertainment.  Cost of printing directories, name tags and registration forms.  Postage costs, tour costs if not separate, use of hotel, etc.  We changed our decision as to how soon to mail registration forms from May to March since we will be sending the forms for buying shirts and the tour as well.  Would like to have a 2 month lead time on the shirt orders.  We also discussed the possibility of an interactive registration form and setting up a Pay Pal account to do this.  This will be looked into. The OHS Reunion Committee  meet at Manuel's on June 12, 2007.  12 were in attendance:  Linda Stewart, Patsy (Snead) Mason, Carol Horton, JJ Hamilton, Randy and Audry Gibson, Jenola Johnson Flowers, Carol Ann Zee, Brenda Nail, Sharon Eady,
Marilyn Kendell, Jane Hext.
NEWS OF CLASS MATES We have had a note from Hughla Forman, has a new
address in OK. Joyce McCarty Greenlee and her husband are retiring this summer.  They are considering moving to Central Texas after spending time with a daughter in  West VA and then seeing the fall foliage in  New England . Carol said she has seen Wayne Hawkins earlier in the spring, he was in   Odessa  to help care for his Mother. She has had no other word on Mrs. Hawkins. Carol also stated she had seen Joy Davisson Cryer in May.  They were in town to attend a funeral. Lynn Parker and his wife Sandra were here for Bob Branson's funeral. Marilyn told us the Eddie O'Rear's Mother, Bess Wright, is living at the  Lincoln  Towers.

ILLNESS:
Doris Jane Moore's husband Scott was to have eye surgery in Lubbock the day of the meeting.  Nita Baldwin's Mother Mrs Glenn, was having some health problems and is in  Alliance Hospital .  (UPDATE AS OF FRIDAY JUNE 21---Mrs Glenn suffered a stroke following surgery and is still in (now  Odessa Regional Medical Center --same hospital, but with new name,  CLHORTON) Cliff Buchanan was unable to attend due to illness.
DEATHS:
We are saddend to report the death of Robert (Bob) Branson the first part of June.  We also were sadden to learn that his brother Wayne Branson had passed away earlier in the spring.
Cliff Buchanan's Dad, John Buchanan, passed away on June 7. Mary Lou Dempsey Anderson's husband, Sonny passed away the middle of May.Our sympathy to all these who have lost their family members.
OTHER BUSINESS:
It was decided that we want to have the reunion in September again.  Jane is going to dates that have been established for the CAF Airshow.  We  will be the week end between the Permian Basin Fair and the airshow. There was discussion about using the  Noel Plaza for the Friday night event, we also discussed the possibility of having the  Lincoln Towers as a back up.  (FYI for those of you out of town and don't know what we are talking about, the  Lincoln  Towers  is the old Lincoln Hotel that has been converted to a residence for older adults--not a nursing home or assisted living.  The Noel Plaza is a park across the street North and directly behind the  First  United  Methodist Church  .) We also discussed the possibility of using the Ector Theater for Friday night.  At an earlier meeting the suggestion was made that we might have an Elvis impersonator for the Friday night Marilyn, JJ and Suzanne Valla will check on the use of the Plaza, the Towers and the Elvis impersonator.  JJ had made the suggestion that we try to have the Saturday night activities at the high school.  Carol checked with the school people and found we can use the cafeteria, have the meal catered.  The cost will be $20 per hour for custodial staff with minimum of 2, plus a pre hour cost to rent the building.  One point was made that according to State law, there is to be NO SMOKING OR DRINKING on the campus or in the parking lots, that applies to students and anyone using the campus at any time. We can have a tour of the campus/buildings, which most will not recognize, in fact the cafeteria is part of the new work and is much larger that the one we knew!!

JJ is going to check with the Chamber of Commerce about buses for a tour of the city. Discussed breakfast on Saturday morning It was felt that some would want a golf tournament. We also talked about moving to the MCM Grande Hotel Fun Dome (this is the old  Holiday Inn Convention Center )  Carol will see if they will block rooms IF we
don't have any of our activities there.  We will also check on some other hotels/motels for blocks if that does not work out. Linda Stewart is going to contact Wade Drennan and they will work on locating those who we have never been able to contact or we have lost contact with.  We also discussed name tags--nothing was decided - We discussed having shirts for people to pre-purchase.  We talked about red, long sleeve, oxford type shirts with a logo on left side.  We be something like Odessa High Class 1959 in a circle and 50th  Reunion across the middle.  Marilyn Kendell is going to check on prices for shirts and tote bags

Carol will respond to an email asking if we have considered having the Ector High 1959 class with us. An invitation will be issued. Folks it is just about two years before the reunion and the way time is flying--are we getting older?????--it will be here before we know it.  We invite all who get these minutes to let us know your thoughts.  Also if you have news of classmates please let us know about it.  clh

Our next meeting will be September 11, 2007 at Big Daddys on  42nd Street .  Meeting time 6:30 pm, we will be meeting in the back meeting room.  We hope to see you there.
