After 35 years in education, I retired in 2003 from my role as assistant superintendent with ECISD. Since retirement I have been actively involved in the Permian Basin Master Gardeners, volunteer work within the community as well as church, and continuing to quilt at every opportunity. We have transformed our back yard from traditional "West Texas Bermuda grass" to a Xeriscape garden with over 90 varieties of plants. We have five grandchildren (all living in Texas) with whom we visit frequently. Both our boys are great husbands and fathers as well as highly skilled in their professions. Married 45 years in August, Roy and I enjoy the freedom to travel at times other than July only as was the case for so long. Along with several of my five sisters, I travel to quilt shows and exhibits on a regular basis. This continues to be a real blessing. Updated 08/30/04. |

We have two children. Our daughter Danielle was born in December 1965 in Spokane, Washington. Our son Michael was born in February 1965 in Dallas. Both are married and living here in the Dallas Area. We have three Grandchildren. Jonathan, age 7, Danielle's son. Hannah and Hailey, Mike's twin girls that just turned 3 in October. I spent 8 years in the U.S. Air Force after leaving Odessa, and was assigned to McCoy AFB in Florida, Nouasseur AB in Casablanca Morocco, and Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington. After leaving the Air Force, I went to work for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES)... this is the PX abd BX system of retail stores on U.S. military installations around the world. During my almost 30 yoears with AAFES, we (my family and I) started in Dallas, then transfered to Bangkok Thailand, Okinawa Japan, Then Back to the U.S. to the Boston Area, Washington D.C. and back to Dallas. After a few years, I was transfered to Munich Germany then to Heidelburg Germany, and finally back to Dallas. I retired in 1999. Updated 01/28/08. |

I am teaching kindergarten at Pikes Peak Christian School. I job share with a young lady that I taught with. Kim teaches reading, phonics, writing and Bible in the morning. I teach Math, science, Spanish and fun things in the afternoon. We have 18 students. Before moving to Colorado Springs in 1991, I taught 2nd grade in Anchorage, Alaska. I have the equivalent of two masters, but have never taken the time to get all my eggs in one basket to get my masters. I love all kinds of sports and work out at the Y or walking with a friend or biking with my husband almost every day of the week. John and I have been on several bike trips in France, Ireland, Holland and Germany. We plan another one to France and the beaches of Normandy this summer. We love to travel and have been to Mexico, Canada, China, Africa and Oberobergam besides the bike trips. We also camp across the US visiting children--they live in New York, Maryland, Chicago, Fairbanks, Portland Oregon, and Nashville and CO SPRNGS. We like to watch sports, go to opera, dance, live theater and symphony. We are active in our churches and John is retired, but volunteers in the medical field every week. Updated 04/21/2004. |

Merita and I are celebrating our 45th anniversary this year. The other highlight of my year has been my retirement from my 32 year administrative career at Odessa College. Retirement is great! We've already had three of our five grandchildren come spend a week with us and we are looking forward to spending more time with all our grandchildren. Both our sons and their families live in Texas, so it's not a problem to visit frequently. Since retirement I have been involved in some of Merita's Xeriscape gardening projects (and I expect more of this!)and we have both increased the level of volunteer work in a breakfast ministry we've been involved with for 17 years as well as other community volunteer efforts. Again this year we plan to attend the annual reunion of crew members of the destroyer on which I served while on active duty in the Navy. I plan to be a little more careful this year at the reunion than I was last year. It was so much fun I almost shipped over! The only thing that stopped me was the requirement to shave the beard...  Life continues to be good to me. I was fortunate enough to have my own monogramming and gift shop ata one point, which I think is the most fun I havae had. I am now an Accounts Receivable Analyst for a major personal communications corporation. I received that coveted Batchelor's degree in Marketing/Business Administration in 1989, just after the reunion. I have 4 beautiful step-daughters, 2 wonderful daughters of my own, 9 grandchildren (the oldest of which graduated from Texas Tech in 1998), and 1 great granddaughter. Not bad for starting out as an only child! My youngest daughter and her 2 precious daughters are currently living with me so things are not dull around my house very often. I love browsing through antique shops, visiting historic and scenic Texas, and GOOD music-Acapella Choir did have a positive effect on me! Update 1999. |
